Tour Overview

This 5 day Rwanda Gorillas and Culture tour is aimed to present our guests with a cultural and gorilla experience in Rwanda as a tourism destination.

After spending some time in the Virunga mountain ranges and going on gorilla treks, you will return to Kigali for a city tour, after which you will visit the National Museum and the King’s Palace to gain further insight into Rwandan culture.

The itinerary is as follows:

Day 01: Arrival and transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Day 02: Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park
Day 03: Return to Kigali City
Day 04: Visit to Butale National Museum and Kings Palace
Day 05: Departure

Detailed Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival and transfer to Volcanoes National Park

When you arrive, a representative from Gecko Safaris Africa will greet you and take you by car to Volcanoes National Park, which is in the northern region of Rwanda.
You will travel through a stunning rural area with terraced hills and winding roads on your way to your lodge in time for dinner and the night.

Two hours for the drive

Day 02: Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park.

After enjoying a delicious breakfast at the lodge in the early morning, head to the Volcanoes National Park Headquarters for a thrilling morning drive.
From there, start your hike into the native forest in search of gorillas.
With this trek, you will be able to venture into a unique and private area of the rain forest where you can experience the lively calls of vibrant birds, the chattering of rare golden monkeys, and the scent of fresh buffalo and elephant spoor from the mountain’s elusive populations.
Enjoy lunch at the lodge and then unwind there to unwind after the demanding and thrilling activities of the day.

Day 03: Return to Kigali City

After that, while your memories of the gorilla trekking experience are still vivid, you will drive to Kigali for a city tour that could include going to markets, seeing the town, and visiting the Kigali Memorial Genocide Center to gain further insight into the history of the genocides that have occurred in Rwanda and around the world.

Day 04: Visit to Butale National Museum and Kings Palace

After an early morning meal, you will drive to Butale area of Rwanda for a visit to the Kings’ Palace. After learning about Rwanda’s rich cultural heritage and the country’s kingship history from the first to the last, you will visit the National Museum before spending the night in Kigali.

Day 05: Departure

You will be taken to Kigali Airport for your outbound international flight, depending on your schedule of departure.
