Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali, Rwanda

Upon your arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be welcomed by your safari guide.
Depending on your arrival time, embark on a short city tour of Kigali, visiting the Kigali Genocide Memorial and experiencing Rwanda’s vibrant culture. Later, relax at your hotel and prepare for the adventure ahead.

Day 2: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Uganda

Enjoy an early breakfast before setting off on a scenic journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda.
The drive will take you through rolling hills, terraced farmland and rural communities.
Cross into Uganda at the Cyanika or Katuna border, arriving in Bwindi in the late afternoon. Settle into your lodge with views of the surrounding forests and mountains.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Today is the highlight of your safari—your first gorilla trekking experience! After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing by the Uganda Wildlife Authority guide or ranger.
You’ll then be assigned a group and begin your trek through the dense jungle, guided by experienced trackers who will lead you to one of Bwindi’s habituated gorilla families.
Once found, spend one magical hour observing these incredible primates in their natural habitat. Return to your lodge for rest and relaxation. Trekking can take around 2-8 hours depending on the location of the gorillas.

Day 4: Optional Community Visit & Transfer to Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda

This morning, you can choose to visit the local Batwa community and learn about their culture and history as forest dwellers.
Afterward, begin your journey back to Rwanda, crossing the border and heading to Volcanoes National Park.
Enjoy the scenic drive with stunning views of the Virunga Mountains. Arrive at your lodge in time for dinner.

Day 5: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda

Your second gorilla trekking experience a-waits in Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park.
Following breakfast, drive to the park headquarters for a briefing before embarking on your trek.
Volcanoes National Park offers a slightly different trekking environment, with bamboo forests and open views of the surrounding volcanoes.
Once the gorilla family is located, spend an hour observing their fascinating behavior. Return to your lodge to unwind.

Day 6: Dian Fossey’s Grave Hike or Golden Monkey Trekking & Transfer to Kigali

On your final day of adventure, choose between a trek to Dian Fossey’s grave and the ruins of the Karisoke Research Station or a golden monkey trekking experience.
After your activity, return to Kigali where you can enjoy your last evening in Rwanda with a farewell dinner.

Day 7: Kigali City Tour & Departure

Depending on your flight schedule, take a final tour of Kigali, visiting local markets and craft shops or relax at your hotel before transferring to Kigali International Airport for your departure flight.
